Janani (Jane) Cleary teaches classes and practices and conducts meditation sessions based upon the teaching of Vedanta. She completed an intensive instruction in India to obtain her teaching certification and has shared this knowledge and insights with students for several decades.
Vedanta is knowledge based - like chemistry, physics or biology - and is universal in nature. In it's view, the practitioner first needs to know who and what is the very nature of the meditator. Janani's sessions draw on this ageless, yet always relevant teaching to help you reach a greater understanding and vision into the nature of your mind and your own essential nature.
Upon completion of an accredited 2.5 year course of study at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya in Mumbai, India, I was certified in the practice and teaching of Vedanta and Vedic subjects. I studied under Swami Dayananda Saraswati, a renowned teacher and scholar in Advaita Vedanta and Sanskrit. Since my return to the United States I have been teaching Vedanta and meditation for those who realize that being truly fulfilled and empowered comes through the pursuit of self knowledge, meditation and mindfullness.

Recognize Your Inner Fullness
We all seek to move beyond our limitations. Yet often the more we struggle with circumstances of the physical, mental or relational, the more engulfed we become. Like fighting the strong current of an undertow, efforts to resist the water's power pull us even deeper.
Vedanta can relieve this human conflict by unfolding a unique, bigger picture view. It is a non-sectarian, spiritually based knowledge that has no cultural, spiritual or geographic borders. It can get you through the undertows, by revealing your inner and aware fullness which is ever available to you.
Managing the Mind and Beyond
Meditation and informed mindfulness provide the way to steer your mind in the right direction. Developing an aware, mindful state of being has many benefits that flow into your life. By discovering that you are able to be an impartial witness to your thoughts, your mind becomes more objective, dispassionate, and responsive instead of reactive. The Bhagavad Gita is a conversation based on the story of Arjuna, a man faced with fighting a war against those near and dear to him in order to defend and protect society. Fraught with grief and confusion, he turns to Lord Krsna for guidance and inspiration as he has lost all motivation and ability to fight.
Krsna teaches him, unfolding a vision of how to do what must be done while rising above it all. Their dialogue is insightful and inspiring and by revealing the underlying nature of ourselves, the world and the ultimate source of it all to us, shows how we too can rise above our own internal and external conflicts as we carry out the tasks that we cannot and should not avoid. In the process, we discover our own inner abiding sense of well-being not affected or displaced by the twists and turns in our lives.
