Vedanta acts as a means of knowledge and uses a methodology for unfolding your understanding of who you are and how you relate to the world. It is a clear and simple approach using logic to help you see the biggest version of the big picture and that who you seek is who you already are.

Vedanta focuses on the topic of what is infinite and how it relates to you. As one who is interested in the study of what is infinite, you first have look at who you are so you can connect to your understanding of the infinite.

To truly know who you are, you simply have to understand that there are two things in this world. Only two things. One is objects and the other is you, the subject. As the subject, you are not any of the objects you see. Although you may identify with them, you see them simply as objects. When you take that one step further, you get up close and personal because we all make the mistake of thinking that we are our mind or we are our body. But we are not.

We say “my body” not “I body” or “my mind” not “I mind” because anything I possess is not me, it simply belongs to me. My phone is not me, it is a possession of mine. My glasses are not me, they are a possession of mine. The same can be said of my mind and my body. So logically, all these are objects that you see and they are not you. You are the subject observing them, including the body and mind that you possess.

Our pursuits fall short because they begin and end in time. You are the one thing that is not coming and going. You are the constant in all of your pursuits – you do not begin and end as your pursuits do. Then as you watch the pursuits come and go, you are watching all of this and yet you are not changing. In sum, you, the watcher is not ever changing and you never become what you are watching, which is always changing. And, you, the watcher/subject are never away from yourself. Hence, wherever you go, there you are.

This is the primary focus of Vedanta that you are not separate from the infinite you seek. Because you are always there, no matter what happens with the changing body, changing mind and changing world. You are unchanging. You cannot make yourself the object nor can you distance or dismiss yourself.

You, as the subject, who is not changing is not separate from and therefore must necessarily be the infinite. You are infinite because you are always there.

There is more, much more to understand about this vision of yourself. As you become more familiar with all our infinite, limitless selves, so too will your understanding become abundantly clear of who is the real you and the true reality of life.
